The foundation from Milano Marittima was born from a dream, the dream of Giuseppe Palanti and other visionary pioneers inspired by the urbanistic ideal of the “garden city”. A fruitful and tireless project that developed in 1910 and 1911 and officially began on 14 August 1912, a fundamental event that transformed the old “salt” town into a modern “holiday resort” with holiday lets in harmony with the city's natural environment. The town developed over time, and between 1926 and 1927 the Hotel Mare e Pineta was inaugurated, the first large, prestigious hotel in Milano Marittima. The name and style reflect two main features of this location: the sea and pine forest. This is when the “travel industry” was born. The elite of Milan and Lombardy began visiting this garden city, and it became clear that charm, style and elegance were to be key features aimed at a sophisticated clientele who sought quality in their holidays. The newspapers of the time wrote “The game of tennis, the large terrace by the sea and all the most modern comforts make Milano Marittima the favourite destination of an elegant and aristocratic colony(…)”. For almost a century, MarePineta Hotel has been the symbol of the founding principle of the town of Milano Marittima and has always welcomed notorious figures from the worlds of culture, business, politics, entertainment and sports. In 2010, Studio Lissoni Associati of Milan turned the complex's image around by designing the new wing of the hotel, the restaurant and the connecting spaces. The style was reflected in the interior and was subsequently expanded over the years, bringing innovation and renewal with fittings and installations ranging from designer furniture, an art gallery with signature paintings and photographs, and the extension of the garden with the creation of the Sculpture Park. This oasis of hospitality, service and comfort fuses the illustrious past with a contemporary lifestyle.
